These are used primarily when splicing two wires together that need to be protected from the elements. Quite common in Marine and Automotive applications. They are frequently used during product installation to eliminate soldering the wire joint.   Heat Shrink Butt Connectors are utilized when standard Vinyl or Nylon Butt Connectors are not sufficient.
